With the New Year a distant memory, now is the time for electrical contractors to be aware of the forthcoming regulatory changes to space heaters, which will be introduced to the industry over the next two years.
These updates will see changes for manufacturers, with the implementation of the new Eco Design Lot 20 legislation. Falling under the Energy Related Products (ERP) regulations, it requires that from 1st January 2018 all heaters produced by manufacturers conform to new performance standards.
Electricians will still be able to purchase and install current style heaters until December 2020, however, it is advisable to prepare for upcoming changes to remain in line with regulations.
Manufacturers are currently developing new systems, which may include functions that help users manage and reduce energy consumption, such as thermostatic control, 24-hour temperature control, open door/ window detection and distance control. The new Girona range from Dimplex incorporates adaptive start technology, which optimises start up time without wasting energy, and open door/window detection which lowers the heat to save energy.
At ElectricalDirect, electricians can choose from a wide range of over 7,500 quality products, all of which are in stock ready for next day delivery, all over the UK.
